Discover the Passo delle Erbe

The enchanted landscape at the foot of Sass de Putia and Puez-Odle Nature Park

The Passo delle Erbe / Würzjoch mountain pass ("Ju de Börz" in the local Ladin language) lies at 1,987 m above sea level. It is the only road connection between Val Badia and the Valle Isarco / Eisacktal valley. The pass can be accessed all year round from Antermoia / Untermoi from the eastern side. From the west, it is only accessible from mid-spring to late autumn: from Val di Funes / Villnöß, or from Bressanone / Brixen through the Eores / Afers or Luson / Lüsen valleys.

The Ütia de Börz mountain inn enjoys an isolated and scenic location, right on top of the Börz alpine pass.

Passo delle Erbe / Würzjoch lies splendidly nestled between the gentle Lüsen meadows on the north and the Pütia meadows on the south, with the steep northern face of the eponymous mountain looming over the whole area. From here you can reach one of the most precious natural environments in South Tyrol: the vast and spectacular Puez-Odle Nature Park. Explore this incredible scenery thanks to a wide selection of hiking, walking and bike trails.

1/1

The Sass de Putia / Peitlerkofel ("Sas de Pütia" in the indigenous Ladin language, 2,875 m s.l.m.) is not the only Dolomites' peak in the vicinity of the Ütia de Börz, but the nearest. The Gabler and the Plose, along with the ski area of the same name, stand out on the north. Looking south, the iconic sharp peaks of the Geisler / Odle tower over the landscape.

The numerous hiking, walking and mountain bike trails are by far the main attraction of the Börz plateau. Several walks and trekking itineraries criss-cross the area of the Puez-Odle Nature Park and the woods and meadows surrounding it. The most famous is the Roda de Pütia, a wonderful ring walk around the Sass de Putia leading us through vast and gentle meadows dotted by ancient alpine huts.

During the winter months, the Passo delle Erbe / Würzjoch mountain pass is only accessible from Val Badia. Its remoteness makes it a perfect retreat for those who want to experience the more wild and silent side of the Dolomites. The spectacular winter scenery invites us to explore the snow-clad meadows and woods at the foot of Sass de Putia. Cross-country skiing, sledding and snowshoe excursions are the main attractions from December to April.
