A weekend of nature and sustainability

On September 28 and 29, Ütia de Börz hosted the "Farm to Fork" event in collaboration with POW Italy, offering a unique opportunity to reflect on the connection between sustainable food and environmental protection, with a special focus on the mountains. The refuge, nestled in the stunning Dolomites, set the stage for two days of local cuisine, learning, and sharing, with the aim of inspiring participants to adopt a more conscious way of eating.

One of the event's highlights was the workshop dedicated to preparing oat-based energy bars, perfect for mountain adventures. Imagine going on a hike with a homemade snack in your backpack, rich in natural and local ingredients. Every bite not only nourishes you but also helps preserve the environment. The bars made of oats, apples, carrots, and sunflower seeds perfectly embodied this spirit.

During the workshop, participants learned how to mix simple and natural ingredients to create the perfect snack for tackling the toughest hikes. All without preservatives or artificial ingredients, using only easily accessible and eco-friendly products.

The process of making the bars was not only a chance to learn new recipes but also to rediscover the beauty of simplicity: mixing, pressing the dough onto a tray, baking for a few minutes, and then cutting it into convenient portions to bring on the trail. The sweet, inviting aroma of the freshly baked bars filled the air, evoking childhood memories and a desire to reconnect with nature.

The "Farm to Fork" event underscored the importance of a short, sustainable food chain, emphasizing the quality of local ingredients and respect for the environment. Participants not only learned how to make their own energy bars but also reflected on how even small food choices can contribute to protecting the nature around us. And what could be better than experiencing mountain adventures, knowing you're nourishing yourself healthily and sustainably with products that respect the land they come from?

The days concluded with a shared realization: what we put on our plate impacts not only our health but also the planet’s. And as the bars prepared in the workshop remind us, every choice, no matter how small, can make a difference.
